Reactivate

I'm leaving for a course in Information Design, for the next 2.5 Years...
Yes, a big change in my profession...  But, it's for the best...

I believe there will be a lot of Inspirations, Articles/Examples of good Design that will continue to motivate and educate me... But I failed to archive these past Design-experiences, resulting in, maybe losing it forever..

Being the organized and data driven freak that I am... I'm gonna start re-posting interesting articles that I come across... To forever admire such examples..

There are 2 interesting past-reads, which I can think of, right now. The posts by C.Y Gopinath (here) on Smashing Magazine.

The first post talks about his in-depth research talking about how the num-pad are arranged on Calculators and Telephones. And his argument as to why it needs a redesign.

The other one gives a deep insight into his personal experiences about how Design evolved during the 1980s. Whilst mainly talking about the art of Layout and Composition followed in the Newspapers, at the time. It also adds as to how our Professions are constantly at risk and new Jobs are quickly emerging. A very interesting read indeed.

Also, Airtel Open Network (here) AD was playing today. I was skeptical as I felt that this was a move by the Telecommunication Giant to confuse the masses, for a while.

But, the page in itself is a good example of Info-Design. Select your city, find out if Airtel towers are close to you and get their operating status. A quick way to find the cause for those frustrating signal loss. Only hiccup I faced was on the UI-end, where a frustrating violet screen-over appears on the map.

Android App Development

Deviation after deviations... Confusions and Excitement...

Despite all this chaos, I'm now starting to like Android App development...

Inspirations from friends going on ventures and shows like Silicon valley..

I wanna pursue this, for a bit.... Great tutorials: here

A great App with great UI is the dream !!

Typography & Printing

Making a few notes on the types of Printing.

There are 2  types of Printing: Intaglio & Relief.

Intaglio is when the required print work is cut as a groove on the printing surface.
It includes: Engraving, Etching, Aquatint

Relief is when the remaining un-needed section of the printing surface is shaved away.
It includes: Woodcutting.

Some other types:
Lithography is based on the principle that water and grease repel each other.
Screen-printing includes a screen (duh) that has gum-raisin applied to the non-reqd surface and then placed above paper. Ink is applied on the other end.

Why a Second Blog?

Blogging is sort of a familiar activity to me now (though, not so regular).

This second blog is mainly to motivate me to learn and progress in the Design-area.
By the end, I hope to independently design cool stuff.
Tbh, I've no idea about my goals.

The inspiration is: this article.

I'll try my best to keep this blog updated daily. In other words, I wanna be a regular reader and strict follower of only the above article, purely.

Usually, I do nothing else, so why not give this a try.

I abandon most of my challenges very early and the lessons that I've learnt:
Unrealistic daily expectations and apathetic goals.

"I'll only do what I love"
"Only so much of it, that I can, right now."
